Just got back from mugging at the library. So loser right... luckily it was peppered with talk of some "sexy bodies", a lot of nonsense from joe, and our 15 mins laughing streak. We couldnt stop laughing the in library... just ask Daniel. haha, =) Highlight of the day, something you wont ever catch happening back home - FILMING of SMALLVILLE ON CAMPUS! can u imagine that... seeing TOM WELLING up, close and personal...damn cool. He's really good looking though, exactly like he looks on TV. Apparently, it happens pretty often here, so there wasnt really a crowd or anything. It's just the Asians snapping photos, and the occasional shriek of joy from us girls. haha =) Me for one, did not bring my camera, so we dont have a picture of his boyish face on my blog... oh well. I'll bring it everywhere i go now... darn.

Having dim sum in my room now. =) shrimp dumpling and rice wrapped in lotus leaf... i like. hahahaha. I just got back from my longboat session in the morning. I woke up at !@#$% 6.30am. Thank goodness it was all worth it =) Rowing rocks! Longboat is somewhat like a more streamlined dragonboat without the rudder, paddling with a longer paddle. And unlike the dragonboat, you can actually capsize a longboat. =( Not good, cos the water is freezing cold. But it felt so good to be rowing again =) I just feel like i need to catch up on sleeeeep now. Some crazy drunks decided to hold their 20 min conversation just beside my door at 2am this morning... and they were talking like they needed the whole world to know how exciting their lives were. oh well... =) I'm just a happy girl.
And for people who are waiting for my rockies pics, my com/connection/blogger account refuses to let me upload them. So be patient people, you'll see them one day. =) i'm trying... really.

I miss dragonboat, I love the smell of my room, I have great new friends (we braved the rockies together!), I want to row, I love my soci lecturer, I need to sing Karaoke, I have to start (preferably finish) reading, I love my soci lecturer, I’m waiting for salsa to start, I just got back from the ROCKIES!, I think my life is right on track! =) arhahahahahaha…
The above musings were made in an exceptionally sane state of mind after being notified that:
I’m in the team for Day of the Longboat,
My soci lecturer’s idea of a proposal is a 1-sentence email stating only my topic,
I suddenly have time to do my readings,
We have a karaoke outing on Friday,
I have a Psychology subject pool slot,
Salsa rocks!,
There is a massage course on campus that’s super cheap (and hopefully good),
My friends are willing to loan me notes for the lessons I missed…
Isn’t my life fantastic? That’s not all… For the uninformed, I JUST GOT BACK FROM THE CANADIAN ROCKIES! How was it? extremelyfantasticthemountainsweregorgousthefriendsweregreat!
In short, I had a hell of a time. =)
It was a 4-day trip with 8 crazy people (more like 8 kids, as the rest of the group were aunties and uncles... who seemed to have great interest in us, and pretty much liked us alot too!) We went to many mountains, many of which we didn’t even know names of. We were up the Columbian Icefield, which was literally, a h-u-g-e area covered with ice even in the middle of September! I cant even describe how excited we were. =) We had packed meals almost everyday, thus saving us money to buy nonsense like fresh apples, apple juice, apple ice wine and pizza! =) We were so lucky, cos we caught SNOW on Mt Sulphur in the middle of September. To me, no place should be snowing in the middle of September. But to our surprise and Christine's delight, it really snowed. *sighs* It was so pretty and calm and suddenly, you feel that the world is really a great place.(right ms chen?) =) Lake Lousie was the other place that really struck me. The water is turquoise, seriously. Not the redang blue, not Singapore brown, but this perfect shade of blue-green that left me shocked... =)
And how can i not mention my crazy friends... From the Pyramid game (we really played it...why did we entertain you cheekian?!), to our endless cans of tuna, saLmond, butter, peanut butter, bread, bread and more bread (YX was like chef of the trip, all that was missing was his tall hat which he tried to replacate with some cups stacked on each other. haha), the endless bus rides (with Joe puking and the intro to the virgina bitch..), the corny movies (Joe and his spiderweb to keep a certain Butterfly out after watching Spiderman 2), the stupid comments (you heard one every 2 seconds - large contibution by CK and Dan), the lively banter (largely bitchy talk between Ck and ms chen, sometimes selena and yx even!), the times the gals crashed the guys' room (like every night... we're smart!), the little girl-talk sessions we had in the room (predictably, it was about men... right cass and ms chen?), the 20000 photos we took (imagine the same group shot taken on at least 5 cameras, that's why)... wow, what can i say... it's the company that counts? haha...you bet! Thank you guys for making my trip so very memorable =) Where are we going next?????!
I don’t think my pictures do justice to the scenery, but i tried... just know that I really enjoyed myself, and I cant wait for our next trip out! =)

Supposed to be reading my never-ending readings, but i decided to blog one last time before I hit the Canadian Rockies tomorrow morning! (read: set off at 6am!) School has been ok so far, I'm reading exciting stuff like "Towards Global Feminism". haha. I'm really excited about the trip tomorrow. Hope I dont die after missing 2 days of school though. I think not. =) Posting up pictures of last Saturday spent at Stanley Park. It's a HUGE park right in the middle of vancouver city. We had a lovely picnic (courtesy of yummy sandwiches by Dan, Cass and Christine) =) We also went cycling! For those who dont know, this is my fifth time cycling (only).. haha... yup, and I didnt fall/do anything embarrassing to myself. It was good fun. Visited Chinatown that night too, but we were there a little too early. Nothing much would be happening at 6pm on a Saturday night anywhere though =). Right then, back to my readings. Please hope I wake up on time tomorrow morning. =) enjoy pictures.
PS. the pretty glass building you'll see is the main social sciences library. I really hope I wont be spending TOO much time in there. I'm on exchange =) hahaha... And that's the main flagpole in UBC with the Canadian flag (duh) overlooking the mountains. On a good day, the view is beyond words. =) But these few days, I havent even seen the slightest hint of sunshine. =( I need the sun!...
Happy birthday in advance to Mummy too! =) love you lots!

Finally went shopping today with my new shopping kaki Marilyn! =) We were mad. period. haha... I think i ended up with 4 new jackets, a pair of trackpants and a top in the last 2 days of shopping. That should be enough to last me through anything! So mummy, dont need to send anything over ok? I'm well and good. +) I just need to stop myself from spending any more money on nonsense. haha. Going to the rockies over the weekend, and I'm really looking forward to the sights. This new group of friends I've made here have been a lot of fun and comfort, especially when I need to hear some singlish. =) I also finally got my phone line done, although I cant remember my number at all. Had a few good lectures today too, didnt fall asleep, understood almost everything the prof was trying to say, realised that they were all really nice. I think things will go well here. At least until I have to hand in my term papers. =p Pictures! Of the ice hockey and football matches, and the beautiful sunset. =)

EXCITING DAY! I bought comforter and pillows from this korean gal for 10 bucks, got my first set of reading materials (thanks eileen!), went for my first lunch at Vanier (it's a million times better than my own canteen), went for my virgin ICE HOCKEY game and braved my first sand/rain storm in Vancouver! A lot for a day's work ya? =) LOVELY. Ice hockey rocks. It really does, especially when you are about 2 meters away from players ramming into each other (on purpose?) =) We the sua-gus didnt even know that an ice hockey game has 3 periods of play. haha. But it was so much fun. Partially also because WE WON. =) arhahaha. The moment we stepped out of the arena, we faced the biggest winds we've seen in vancouver thus far. It was hilarious cos we were screaming and squealing cos of the dust and sand carried by the huge winds. So much for a mini adventure on our 5 min walk back to hall. so exciting. haha =)

SCHOOL!! I was pretty excited about it UNTIL i found out that textbooks cost an average of $70. Imagine TWO per course. Think I can go for 2 skiing trips at Whistler with that kind of money. darn. We'll see how ethical I decide to be ya. =) The copier machine is always available. =) sigh. Classes are good though, very nice profs, lots to read. Let's hope I get decent exam dates though. So far so good. Posting pics of the past few days on the boat cruise and up Grouse and Lynn Canyon. Enjoy.
